Natural slate roof Repair in Dun Laoghaire Co Dublin
Irish Roofers recently did extensive roof repairs on a property in Dun Laoghaire, Co, Dublin. We used a natural slate to match in with the adjoining roofs and to keep the original look and feel of the property in keeping with the surrounding area.
Natural slate is a dense fine-grained metamorphic rock produced by the compression of various sediments (such as clay or shale) that can be easily divided into thin pieces. It is frequently grey in colour, especially when seen en masse covering roofs. Interestingly, slate occurs in a variety of colours even from a single locality.
Natural slate is probably the best roofing material in the world. Not only is it good quality, but it will outlast other cheaper roofing materials. It can outlive the lifetime of it's building once it is installed correctly. The market for second hand slates proves this. This natural slate retains its color and although it may weather with age, it will not fade.
Irish roofers striped the old battens and old slates from the house and installed new ones.
